He may seem quiet and reserved at times, but that's only because he speaks when he has something to say. He's actually quite sociable and the sort of person who is always thinking twelve steps ahead

Having experienced both the pinnacle of entitlement and the depths of poverty, he displays a wisdom and self-awareness beyond his years, especially in regard to social status.

He is also very pragmatic, with a consistent belief that the ends justify the means.

He suffers from PTSD after the severe physical and emotional trauma he endured at the hands of the LaRue family before his escape, displaying cynical, detached, and at times self-deprecating behaviour especially in regards to love.

He is supremely intelligent; his intelligence gives him great powers of observation and deduction. He would constantly note small details and could combine those details to make accurate, but sometimes bizarre deductions.

- Lucien was born to a noble family in Orlais.

- Lucien's family had a long standing feud with another noble family that went back generations.

- When Lucien showed signs of magic, he was adamant that he wanted nothing to do with magic. Not that there was anything wrong with it, but he had dreams and ambitions that simply wouldn't have a chance of becoming reality if he were forced to in the Circle. His family had enough wealth and influence that they were able to keep his abilities secret, and paid a mage to train Lucien in secret. He never learned more than the very basics and how to repress the magic.

- When he was of age, he went to the University of Orlais for art and architecture, of which he graduated top of his class. Afterwards he began work as an art dealer and appraiser.

- By 9:40 the situation with the rival family came to blows, most of Lucien's family was murdered, Lucien and his sister Alina were taken captive, and the estate seized.

- Lucien and his sister spent months at the hands of the rival family, until they finally escaped.

- With no more estate, their family dead, Lucien took to the criminal world in order to make money and plot revenge by becoming a fence and occasional thief.

- At some point he meets Maeve and helps her out of a tricky situation, they become friends.

-After a fight with Maeve, Lucien takes off on his own and nearly gets killed. He's rescued by a mage who then convinces Lucien to actually learn magic proper like.
