The younger of two twins promised to Mythal, born unbreathing in a caul. Because both were promised in service to Mythal, a piece of her twin sister's soul was pulled forth to give life to the body, so that a spirit called forth into existence by Mythal could inhabit the child, and grow up as Kumiko.

4499 FA

Mythal is murdered and Solas created the Veil. The Sentinels of the Temple of Mythal enter Uthenera, waking and returning many times as the years pass. The numbers dwindle, as fewer and fewer find themselves unable to return to Uthenera as they once were able.

8441 FA

The Temple Sentinels are awoken for good following the arrival of the Inquisition to the Arbor Wilds. Kumiko recognizes someone that she's not seen in many years, and her purpose is clear—and she thinks her twin will follow. However, Yuki does not and the two go their separate ways. One with the Sylvas, the other with the Emerald Knights. Two parts of the same soul pitted against one another.

The Veil is gone, and Kumiko had been with the Dread Wolf when the Veil went. She's told nobody of what occurred, but she lost her body due to the proximity of her location to the magics that Solas was drawing forth to destroy the Veil he had created. If she had been a regular Elf, she would have died. Her spirit required a mortal host, and her sister offered her body.
